THE JOB description

What does a wind tech do?

Responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of wind turbine components, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Troubleshoots issues, performs scheduled maintenance, and ensures the safe and efficient operation of wind turbines.

What qualifications are required?

Ability to diagnose, repair, and perform routine maintenance on the mechanical components of wind turbines, such as gearboxes, bearings, and pitch control systems.

Proficiency in identifying and addressing issues with the electrical and control systems of wind turbines, including generators, transformers, and sensors.

Understanding of the hydraulic systems that power the pitch, yaw, and braking mechanisms of wind turbines, and the ability to maintain and repair these systems.

Comfort and safety in performing tasks at elevated positions, often hundreds of feet above the ground, using appropriate personal protective equipment and fall prevention measures.
