What does a HSEQ / safety specialist do?
Develops and implements safety protocols, conducts risk assessments, and provides training to ensure the well-being of workers during wind turbine installation, maintenance, and decommissioning. Investigates incidents and recommends improvements to safety practices.
What qualifications are required?
- Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or related field
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification
- 3-5 years of experience in a safety or risk management role, with knowledge of wind energy industry best practices
on-the-job skills
Thorough understanding of local, regional, and national regulations and guidelines related to workplace safety, including those specific to the wind energy industry.
Ability to systematically identify, assess, and develop mitigation strategies for potential safety risks associated with wind turbine installation, maintenance, and decommissioning.
Skill in conducting comprehensive investigations of safety incidents, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
Capacity to design and deliver effective safety training programs that enhance the knowledge and skills of wind energy workers, promoting a culture of safety.
Salary expectations
- Starting Salary: $45,000 - $55,000

- Experienced Professionals: $70,000 - $90,000
