What does a blade technician do?
Specializes in the inspection, repair, and replacement of wind turbine blades, which are made of composite materials. Performs detailed inspections, identifies and addresses structural issues, and ensures the blades are in optimal condition.
What qualifications are required?
- Technical diploma or associate's degree in renewable energy, composites, or a related field
- 1-3 years of experience in industrial maintenance, composites repair, or wind turbine maintenance
- Proficiency in the use of specialized tools and equipment for blade inspection and repair
- Certification in working at heights and blade repair techniques

Proficiency in the inspection, assessment, and repair of wind turbine blades, which are typically made of advanced composite materials such as fiberglass or carbon fiber.
Skill in using specialized tools and techniques to accurately measure blade dimensions, assess structural integrity, and ensure the proper fit and alignment of replacement parts.
Comfort and safety in performing tasks at elevated positions, often hundreds of feet above the ground, using appropriate personal protective equipment and fall prevention measures.
Capacity to identify and address issues with wind turbine blades, such as cracks, delamination, or erosion, and develop effective repair strategies to restore the blades to optimal condition.
